MINDS MATTER NYC
🚀 THE MISSION
Minds Matter empowers low-income, high-achieving high-school students in NYC to gain admission to college and succeed in building a career.
Who are these students?
$35K average family income
95% identify as a racial or ethnic minority
99% are the first in their family to go to college
Beyond the numbers, each student goes through an intensive interview process to earn their seat in the program, and they are collectively some of the most talented and hardworking young people we’ve ever met.
✅ THE RESULTS
The organization consistently delivers outstanding results for our students during the college application process and is continuing to expand programming to help them land their first job.
100% of Minds Matter students are accepted to a 4-year college or university
45% attend highly competitive colleges (like Brown, Georgetown, Cornell, and MIT)
90% graduate from college within 4 years
💪🏽 OUR INVOLVEMENT
Dedicating our time to Minds Matter has been one of the most rewarding things that we have done together, and we deeply believe in the outcomes that it produces.
Years 2015-2017: We mentored twins every Saturday who’ve since graduated from Cornell University and Barnard College and remain our close friends (see a picture of us below!)
Years 2018-2020: We ran on-site programming at a school in Harlem supporting 100+ students and 200+ volunteers participating in the program
Years 2020-2022: We helped expand the program to support students beyond their high school graduation through the early challenges of going to college
Years 2023+: Mansi recently joined the Minds Matter Board with a focus on strategic direction and securing resources to ensure the continued growth of the organization
